Why do you think education is so important? Go back to Social. How does educational platform like this encourage you to learn.??? When I started thinking about why education is so important, I remembered my high school years when I used to spend almost five hours a month on math homework, wake up at 5: I remembered my teachers, school subjects, the study and the fun!
I never really hated school. But I have seen many of my peers who hated going to school; I have had some friends who did not like the idea of studying. Some needed to be up in summer school for recovery. I personally was always focused because I wanted to live a more meaningful life.
I know it will be hard and very challenging. However I believe I can handle the challenge. The first thing that strikes me about education is knowledge gain. Education gives us a knowledge of the world around us and changes it into something better. It develops in us a perspective of looking at life. It helps us build opinions and have points of view on things in life. People debate over the subject of whether education is the only thing that gives knowledge. Some say education is the process of gaining information about the surrounding world while knowledge is something very different.
But then again, information cannot be converted into knowledge without education. Education makes us capable of interpreting things, among other things. It is not just about lessons in textbooks. It is about the lessons of life. One thing I wish I can do is, to provide education for all: The brain is a muscle Learning something new is an excellent way to do that. It also helps keep your thinking sharp: Open2study is great as it's a very flexible platform. Once a course is open, you're free to study when you can How are you finding it here?
You have access to better employment opportunities. I think an education platform such as Open2Stuudy is very important - first off it is FREE so this makes the education here accessible for all types of people - secondly it is all online, so this makes it globally accessible; provided that the person has access to internet. Even though the courses are not accredited - it is a four week introduction into that particular field of study to give you that insight into that particular world - this allows you to broaden your knowledge in an area you have an interest in - also if you are taking a proper course in a tertiary institute, these courses are great for a head start in that area of study.
Open2Study I think I just did a great job of promoting your learning platform - please contact me if you want me to do more haha. It is important because it is a key to everything that we need.
I agree with many of the excellent points that others have made. Learning is a means to many ends. Through it we can expand our minds, change our outlook, gain new skills. Putting our learning into action, we can also improve how we do things or gain access to new opportunities.
Learning is exercise for the brain. It's something I enjoy for its own sake! The Open2Study platform is great because it is easy to use, the courses are a great length packed full of info, but the courses aren't so long that they're intimidating , the free certificates to show you've completed are a nice little "reward" that helps with motivation.
Offering courses regularly on a rolling schedule is great, as you can take any course if you just wait for the next start date but I always find "in your own time" courses make me less motivated to complete.
Presenting the info through video makes it a pleasure to work through. The only improvements would be an app for mobile devices, that includes a feature for downloading videos to watch later offline Something a couple of other platforms have, that is pretty handy. Education is the base and everybody knows the importance of education no nation can survive without quality or modern education. But of course there are always a few exceptions.
Hi One and All!! From the responses, it is really great to see how passionate people are in improving their knowledge base. Super effort all round folks!! Here are quotes from a number of very famous and influential people, for which I believe are invaluable in understanding the importance of educaton.
Cheers everyone and best wishes with all your studies now and into the future. When I was younger I loved school and always tried to be the best. I even won biology olympics i got to final stage of regional olympics and it allowed me to apply to one of the best high schools in my country.
I wanted to become a doctor one day. However, at some point the stress caused by school became too intense. I ended up with mental illness in psychiatric hospital.
When I was released, I never came back to school. Instead I have now home-schooling and never go outside. I feel like I am incapable of being part of society now. I am a literal outcast living on margin of society. The real problem, however, is that my story is not an exception. In hospital I got to know dozens of people like me. There was even one girl who each year got 6 which is the max grade you could ever get here as her final grade.
One thing that all those people had in common was that they wouldn't be in paychiatric hospital or at least their state wouldn't be so bad ,if there was no school.
And the saddest part of the story is that most of people like me, commit suicide or are too socially anxious to ever speak up and tell about their experience. We are the invisible minority of losers left behind by system that nobody ever mentions. I am really sad when people trear education like an indicator of success or intelligence.
Education and learning are 2 different things that can exist separately. You can be educated and not learn anything and you can also never go to school and still learn a lot. To be honest I often ask myself how many great minds were wasted and ended up just like me, because they didn't fit into the system. I am just a weirdo that nobody is going to treat seriously, because I don't have diploma, not to mention I am mentally unstable.
BTW, I am a great supporter of alernative education, especially democratic. This is real type of education but what we have in public schools is just a machinery that promotes one type of people and destroys those who don't fit in. Let's face it education is very important can you imagine what this world would be like if people where not educated.
Education is indeed the key to everything helps us make good decisions and makes life much much easier. It is a good thing to expand your knowledge l believe the sky is the limit when it comes to education.
Apart from getting better employment opportunities;generally an educated person can be easily distinguished from an uneducated one in terms of reasoning and how to socially interact and live with other people. So education is the key to crime free and happy life. I believed that continous learning is helpful in so many ways.. Our parents could provide for themselves and their close ones by learning one profession and sticking to it. No Can Do these days. You either know it all and learn it all on your way, or you live in a dumpster.
Here's a new value of learning. I think the concept of being a life-long learner is important to remaining an active and engaged member of society, rather than someone on the margins living at the mercy of social, political, economic, and technical forces that you don't understand.
Education platforms like this are a great tool for giving us the opportunity to acquire new knowledge, but we falsely limit ourselves when we think of 'education' as the only form of learning.
For example, one very important way of learning is learning to understand others and see the world from their perspective. This does not mean accepting that their perspective is correct, but rather moving from a place of uncomprehending and therefore adversarial incomprehension to a place where you have a better understanding of, and therefore enhanced capacity to respond to, the Other. There are many ways of doing this. One of the most obvious is simply to listen to what other people have to say, but we can also engage with the Other through paths such as reading their literature or listening to their music.
Likewise, developing a fuller understanding of history can be important in understanding why the world today is as it is. It is true what they say: When we react to historic art or literature by condemning it as racist, sexist etc. Being a life-long learner allows you to enjoy gaining new skills and abilities. You might learn to cook, or change a car tyre, or play a musical instrument. All of these things will likely enhance your life going into the future, and once gained they are almost never lost.More...
